    I totally agree NOT to push past the pain. It sounds like it could be your rhomboids saying something to you. While your abdominals may be strong, it’s possible you’re not totally connected through your back down to your lats. Often it will twinge if you’re “hanging” out there.

    Same here, Chemmie! Normally I don't like to use grip aids, but when I was learning Iguana Mount, it was as if my palms turned on the faucets. I definitely would not have gotten that one without some sticky help. Right now MommaBear, I'm using stuff in my inner legs for advanced plank and sometimes I'll need it for elbow grip caterpillar climb. It really depends on how warm the pole is and how dry my skin is. There's nothing wrong with grip aid UNLESS you're soley relying on it to do the move. I've seen a lot of girls who can only climb with their shoes or boots on.

    That’s also called Eagle Pose in Yoga. The website instructs you to raise your arms in that position, but I would also add bringing them back down while drawing your shoulders down & engaging the lats. It’s a great stretch.

    Yeah, after I posted I realized it probably has nothing to do with ability whatsoever. I think that I was thinking that since Michelle won Pole Art that she would have a pro status. Anyway, it really is a powerhouse line up! Very exciting!

    Wow, Michelle Stanek is considered an amateur??? That's really outrageous. I mean, she's phenomenal–a total pro! I have to say, that's really intimidating. It kinda doesn't seem fair. I hate to disrespect uspdf in any way, but I would kind of think ranking Michelle as an amateur would discourage a lot of girls from competing in that category.

    I have the same problem, Chumpchkin! My ribcage seems totally out of proportion to my chest. I have a few bra tops from lululemon, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend them because 1) they're expensive, and 2) the band is uncomforably tight. My go-to tops are ones from Bebe Sport. It's not a sports bra, but just a little top, almost. There's no padding, no wire, no nothin'. I got mine a few years back so I'm pretty sure the styles have changed but the matching boycut "panties" make up a great poling outfit. You might also want to check out Gapbody for the Essential Basic Bra. Good luck!

    @Amy: you don't know this at all, but YOU have been a real inspiration to me. From your early days on youtube, I have been in awe of your sensuality and ability to embody all that I think makes pole dancing special. And to recently follow your move into full time teaching and seeing your growth in this art form has really pushed me forward into pursuing my dreams.

    @Trixie: Hell, Lovett, don't even know what to say but that I love you with ALL my heart. I've learned not only pole from you, but also what it means to be a woman. Yes, you are my dear, dear friend and Teacher (you don't know how often I used the terms "plant" and "gas pedal"!!!), but you also bring pole to a whole new level and are my "true north" of dance. Yeah, hello..road trip for sure! But always remember–I'll never be a Broncos fan…

    @Lyndi: Girl, it was such a joy to meet you. I was so amazed by your talent and power. I hope you will consider coming to Boulder and being a Special Guest Artist at DollHouse! I think you've got so much to offer and are such a role model to women everywhere. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. Means so much to me!

    Hey Foxxy. I think this is great! I love how you emphasize "true pole amateurs". You're absolutely right–there's not a lot out there for the average pole student. Congratulations on making this happen! I'm really looking forward to hearing more about it.
