I’m 5’5″ and curvy. I stay right around 200lbs. Would I like it to be less? Sure. Am I ok with how it is? You bet! Pole has changed my life and really helped me be “ok in my own skin”. I’m also 52 years old and can’t imagine not doing this! I think one of the reasons why I love it so much is because I work really hard to get the moves and the strength…when I get something new I am absolutely over the moon about it. You will be too!! Welcome…and have fun!! Here’s a pic of me in the layback with my instructor standing! Anything is possible!!

Prplgrl10-I haven’t done anything to the finish…it’s different than the studio and definitely reacts to the temp! Certain times of the day are better than others. So far, I’ve had fun with it but we’ll see how it is after a cold and frozen winter!

Thanks for the input but the pole is in good shape….the coupling was sealed and tight and the concrete is solid. The pole doesn’t move and I went over details with both my pole instructor who has a similar setup as well as checking with an engineer. Safety was and is my priority. The pole doesn’t move and I’ve not had any difficulties with it. If the ground shifts or the pole moves, well, then we start over!

I went to Home Depot and bought a ten foot galvanized steel pole. I also bought a three foot section and a coupling. I threaded them together, used a posthole digger to dig a hole in my backyard, mixed one and a half bags of quickrete, sunk the pole so the coupled joint was below ground, shoveled the concrete in and waited for it to cure. My husband rigged up a plumbline so it’s straight…now I have a ten foot pole in my yard. Super easy!

I just did this recently. Mine is 13 feet of galvanized steel sunk 3 feet into concrete. It’s 1 1/4″ inside diameter which makes it about a 45….In the evening when the temperature drops it’s less grippy but other than that it’s been great. I use Defining Gel from It Works! if grip is an issue….it really makes a difference! I love being able to work on things outside. Good luck!

I usually share with him whatever my current pole challenges and goals are and he will tailor my workouts to compliment them. I work a lot of upper body and core with absolutely everything! I use free weights, stability ball, medicine ball, kettlebell, TRX straps and resistance bands. He also comes up with crazy stuff to keep me from getting bored. On my off days I do cardio work like rowing and biking. Since I started the weight training, my progress on pole has improved at a much faster rate!

Check in here 🙂I’m 51 and I started about a year ago….it’s been a great journey and I am stronger today than I have ever been! I’m excited about all the things I learn and it’s so much fun when my body suddenly “gets it”….as the “chubby” girl who never got picked for a team sport and who everyone thought couldn’t possibly be athletic, I find a very profound sense of accomplishment with each pole session. I’m not so sure that as a younger person I would have been able to appreciate it the way I do today! You’re never too old and I intend to pole for a very long time!

Is this still for sale?
