Dragons Tail
You’ll learn several combo exits from this beautiful and impressive trick. You’ll take it slow by starting off on the floor and then I’ll break it down for you from a Gemini on the pole. You will need a strong Gemini, Inverted thigh hold and Shooting star before working on this move.
Strengthens: PECTORALS / TRICEPS / ABDOMINALS / ERECTOR SPINAE / GLUTES
I like it how you open my mind by creating different exits. It’s one of my favorite tricks but I never thought of exiting differently from what I normally do. Very clever ! The possibility is endless now!
I’m glad it’s givin you ideas! I like to try and do things with my own twist ⛄ï¸
Since we are talking dragon tail, I decided to come watch the lesson (admittedly I have the sound off, so please let me know if I’m asking a question that was covered in the audio… I will rewatch later when I can turn on sound). I see you do it with your thumb on back hand facing down. I’ve seen it done many times with the thumb facing up. I’m assuming you prefer it the way you do it… any reason? Do you find it more stable?
For me I find it more stable and more “natural”. If you reach you arm and hand behind your back thumb up , (thumb down to floor when inverted) it doesn’t require as much twist/turn of the elbow or rotation of the shoulder. Now try turning your thumb down….for me, I feel more strain in the shoulder using the opposite thumb down (thumb up when inverted) Try it and tell me what feels best. 😊
Well, I think by now you know my answer to your question…. Thumbs up for the thumbs down method!
Ah, once again, you showed why the Veena method is safe and effective method!!!
I think trying (and failing at) the thumbs up variation is what hurt my shoulder a few weeks ago… So I was a bit hesitant to try this move again. I realized the minute I dropped my torso that this was the right way to do it without the twisting and pulling I felt previously.
Thanks again for everything. I am a believer! And I just signed up for another year! <3
Wow this is fantastic Veena! Love all the beautiful combos you did esp at the end with superman! Does doing the extended leg version of dragons tail look ok without a split?
I think it looks great without a split as well! 💜
Hi Veena I was wondering if you could help me correct this move? Here is a pic of me trying to do dragon’s tail. I know the angle of the pic is not great…My bent leg is not actually touching the pole. Should the torso be lower or arched? Thanks in advance.
The torso should be facing the pole/floor, then the back is arched. You have the right placement just not totally in the correct position. The chest should face the pole and shoulders squared. Keep it mind squaring the shoulders and facing the floor takes flexibility in the shoulder of the behind arm!! Not everyone can or should do this move. 🙂 Take it slow and see how it goes.
Hey how can I do a bridge from dragon tail?
this is a great video. thank you. I am working on this trick and this lesson is a big help. I LOVE all the exists you included.
Thank you 😊
Veena you ate really gifted in teaching pole moves. I LOVE and an grateful for how detailed you are in your explanations â¤
