POLE – ELITE: You will need a solid front split, allegra, split hip hold (jade) and very open hips like the turn out of a ballerina.

Please refer to the related lessons below the main player for in-depth lessons and help to achieve this move. Here are direct links to these videos listed below.

  1. What a beautiful move. My goal for my one year anniversary would be the jade if I’m real real real lucky. I would love to be able to ever accomplish this move on day in the way off future. I’ll just watch, study and just say wow! Truly awesome!

  2. On my list! I was skating close to it but without any lesson wasn’t sure what I was doing. Now I have clear instruction I can try again! Thanks V! Ps: I have front splits both sides, allegra both sides and jade one side only. My turn out is terrible after pregnancy SPD and I don’t have middle splits anymore. Back flex is average but hamstring and shoulder flex is above average (hypermobile). Will my lack of turn out and mud back flex hold me back or mean higher risk of injury if I try this move?

  3. Hi veena in trying this but it’s really uncomfortable when I try to hook my bottom arm, would this be a shoulder flexibility thing?it’s so pain ful on my body when I get the bottom arm hooked.

  4. another question: do u find a higher or lower elbow hook more secure? or same both ways? not that I really have an option personally since my arms are so short will prob be a higher hook like it or not… but just curious if u find one placement renders u a tighter hold with that elbow?

  5. Skullpixie, this move is not one that everyone should do. It’s labled as Elite for that reason. Can you comfortably do all of the related lessons listed below? Another option is not hooking the bottom arm like this! https://studioveena1.wpengine.com/videos/view/5568f386-ccbc-47b8-9667-68e00a9aa0eb It’s a great option for those who don’t yet have the twisting ability 💜💜 Jivete had such a good idea there!

Firebird, The elbow doesn’t do much for security. It does seem to determine the angle of the split though. The strongest POCs would be the inner thigh and the pulling of that overhead leg, giving you the leverage needed to keep from falling as you extend and open the free leg. I think thoses with shorter arms and less flexiblity, as far as spinal twist and turn out goes, would find the arm helps them out more. It just didn’t add a whole lot of security for me. 😊

  6. Hi Veena yes I can do all of the lessons, my Jade is not flat yet and I do have a little trouble with ballerina. Thanks for the alternative link I think this will suit me better 💜

  7. Oh Tropical sorry I thought I had replied!!! I would say it’s not any more risky than jade or twisted ballerina. The problem I found was being very Flexy meant my spine smashed into the pole 😁

  8. Today I’m reviewing tutorials to gain tips for improving the form of my broken doll and jallegra, which I learned in the studio.

Thank you very much for including the tips that the higher you grab with the elbow, the more vertical your split will be; and the lower you grab with the elbow, the more horizontal your split will be. Also, thank you for including the tip to pull down more on the inside leg while extending the outside leg back; and also to open into a V first, and then turn the hips out into the split.

I was interested to see that you grab your thigh from the inside. I’ve never seen anyone do this before. I’m interested to know if it gives you a stronger/more supported pull on your inside leg. I will give it a try when I go to practice this morning.
