This trick is place in the Advanced tutorials because it places a lot of pressure on the arm and side. It also takes a good deal of hip flexor strength and leg flexibility. Stick with the Teddy (prep) until you become less sensitive to the Arm pit grip.

Side hold tuck

Pole leg lifts

V sit compression

Also Known As: ARMPIT HOLD / STRADDLE / ARMPIT HOLD V

Strengthens: ABDOMINALS / HIP FLEXORS / QUADRICEPS / PECTORALS / LATISSIMUS / POSTERIOR DELTOIDS

  1. Veena I am having troubles with this move! I can withstand the pain however I either slide down the pole because my armpit wont grip the pole very well, or on the random day that my arm pit will grip the pole my hips wont stay in front of the pole and I end up beside the pole instead of infront of it!

  2. Its hard to say what is going on without seeing you try. Remember the arm is placed up high then the armpit needs to press down and in towards the pole. Also the hips need to be placed as far in front of the pole as possible….think of trying to get the pole on your back. Make sure you can hold it using one hand before letting go with both.

  3. Thank you so much Veena! I looove this move! I was surprised to find that it’s easier for me on my non dominant side; so another thanks to you for encouraging to use both sides =)
